Attraction Introduction

The Site of the Zunyi Conference is located at 96 Ziyin Road, Honghuagang District, Zunyi City, Guizhou Province. It was originally the private residence of Bai Huizhang, the commander of the 2nd Division of the 25th Army of the Kuomintang. This brick and wood structure, combining Chinese and Western architectural styles, was built in the 1930s. It covers an area of 528 square meters with a building area of 620 square meters. The main building is a two-story house with gray walls, green tiles, and carved doors and windows, typical of the architectural style of the Republic of China era.

From January 15 to 17, 1935, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held an expanded meeting here, historically known as the “Zunyi Conference”. The conference focused on solving the decisive military and organizational issues of the time and established Mao Zedong’s leadership position in the Red Army and the Party Central Committee. At this critical historical juncture, it saved the party, the Red Army, and the Chinese revolution. It was a vital turning point in the history of the Communist Party of China.

The conference site has preserved the scene layout of the original meeting, including the conference room, offices, and bedrooms of leaders such as Zhou Enlai and Zhu De. The conference room is located on the second floor, covering an area of 27 square meters. It is furnished with artifacts from the original meeting, including a long table, wooden chairs, and kerosene lamps. The first floor features an exhibition hall dedicated to the Zunyi Conference, comprehensively showcasing the historical background, proceedings, and significance of the conference through a wealth of precious artifacts, historical photographs, and documentary materials.

As a key cultural relic protection unit nationwide and a national patriotism education demonstration base, the Site of the Zunyi Conference welcomes millions of visitors each year. The scenic area also includes revolutionary sites such as the former site of the Red Army’s General Political Department and the Red Army Martyrs Cemetery, forming a complete red tourism system.

In 2015, the site of the Zunyi Conference was listed in the National Red Tourism Classic Scenic Spot Directory, becoming an important base for carrying out revolutionary tradition education and patriotism education.
