Yesanpo Scenic Area
Spot Introduction
Located at the eastern foot of the Taihang Mountains, the Yesanpo Scenic Area is a renowned eco-tourism resort in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The scenic area is famous for its unique landforms, beautiful mountains and waters, and distinctive cave clusters, including Bailixia, Baicaopan, Qingquanwan, and several other scenic spots.
Yesanpo is a national-level scenic area, covering a total area of 520 square kilometers. The unique geological structure here has formed the magnificent landscape of “three slopes and six valleys,” among which Bailixia is known as the “First Gorge in the World,” featuring deep canyons and steep cliffs. The scenic area preserves a complete geological section of the Cambrian period, making it an important base for studying the evolution of the Earth.
As a crucial ecological barrier in North China, Yesanpo boasts rich plant and animal resources. More than 2,000 species of plants grow here, and over 300 species of wildlife inhabit the area, including the brown-eared pheasant, a national first-class protected animal. The scenic area also preserves many ancient villages and anti-war sites from the Ming and Qing dynasties, carrying significant historical and cultural value.
The scenery of Yesanpo varies with each season: in spring, the mountains are filled with blooming flowers; in summer, it’s a cool refuge from the heat; in autumn, the forests are painted in layers of colors; and in winter, the landscape is covered in a blanket of snow. This place is not only a paradise for outdoor sports lovers but also an ideal location for photography enthusiasts. In recent years, the scenic area has also developed experiential projects such as glass walkways and ziplines, providing visitors with more options for entertainment.
