Tianjin Eye Ferris Wheel
Attraction Introduction
The Tianjin Eye Ferris Wheel, standing 120 meters tall and straddling the Haihe River, is the first river-crossing ferris wheel in Asia and an iconic landmark of Tianjin. Completed and opened in 2009 with a total investment of 280 million yuan, this giant ferris wheel utilizes world-leading driving technology. Its 48 fully transparent sightseeing capsules can accommodate 384 visitors simultaneously.
As the only ferris wheel built on a bridge in the world, Tianjin Eye is not only an engineering marvel but also a unique city observation platform. It takes about 30 minutes for the ferris wheel to complete one rotation, offering a breathtaking view of the cityscape within a 40-kilometer radius from its highest point. During the day, visitors can admire the magnificent scenery of the Haihe River winding through the city, while at night, they can enjoy the dazzling lights of Tianjin.
The Yongle Bridge, where the ferris wheel is located, is a multifunctional bridge integrating transportation and sightseeing. The bridge adopts European architectural style, complementing the surrounding Italian-style buildings. When riding the ferris wheel, visitors can appreciate the modern buildings on both sides of the Haihe River, historic buildings such as Jiefang Bridge, and city landmarks including Tianjin Station and Jinwan Square.
Tianjin Eye is not only a tourist attraction but also a symbol of city culture. It has witnessed Tianjin’s transformation from a traditional industrial city to a modern international metropolis, becoming an important window to showcase the city’s image. With over 2 million visitors annually, it is one of the must-visit places for tourists in Tianjin.
In recent years, the scenic area has continuously improved its supporting facilities, adding viewing platforms, visitor centers, and cultural and creative stores. Special projects such as night sightseeing and themed light shows have also been launched, making Tianjin Eye a comprehensive tourist destination integrating sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment.
