Jingyuetan National Forest Park

Attraction Introduction

Jingyuetan National Forest Park is Asia’s largest man-made forest park, renowned for its beautiful natural scenery and rich ecological resources. With a high forest cover rate and exquisite environment, the park serves as a rare eco-tourism destination within the city.

Initially built in 1934 as an artificial reservoir to address water supply issues in Changchun City, Jingyuetan has evolved over 80 years of ecological construction into a national forest park covering 96.38 square kilometers. The park boasts over 50 species of trees, including Korean pine, Scotch pine, and Larch, forming a unique forest ecosystem. The lake covers an area of 4.3 square kilometers, with a maximum depth of 16 meters, and its crystal-clear water complements the surrounding forest landscape.

As a national 5A-level tourist attraction, Jingyuetan offers not only exquisite natural scenery but also comprehensive tourist facilities. The 17-kilometer-long road around the lake provides an ideal venue for hiking and cycling. The scenic area features amenities such as a forest bath, ecological science museum, and viewing platforms, offering visitors a diverse tourist experience. Every winter, the park hosts an ice and snow tourism festival with winter sports activities like skiing and skating, making it a famous winter tourist destination in Northeast China.

Jingyuetan’s scenery is distinctive in each season: spring brings blooming mountain flowers, summer is shaded by lush green trees, autumn paints the forest in a riot of colors, and winter transforms the landscape into a silvery wonderland. The park serves not only as the “green lung” of Changchun City but also as an essential base for eco-tourism and science education.
