Tonghua Yuhuang Mountain Scenic Area

Spot Introduction

Tonghua Yuhuang Mountain Scenic Area is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction, with an altitude of 831 meters. It is famous for its unique mountain landscapes, Taoist culture, and status as a summer resort. The scenic area integrates natural scenery, religious culture, and entertainment, making it a renowned tourist destination in Northeast China.

Yuhuang Mountain derives its name from the Yuhuang Pavilion located at the top of the mountain. Built during the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong period, it is one of the largest and best-preserved Taoist architectural complexes in Northeast China. The entire scenic area covers approximately 20 square kilometers, with a forest coverage rate of over 90%. It is home to rare tree species such as Korean pine and spruce, earning it the reputation of a natural “forest oxygen bar”. Each season brings a different scenery: blooming mountain flowers in spring, refreshing coolness in summer, a riot of autumn colors in fall, and a silver-coated winter wonderland, each season exhibiting its unique charm.

As a famous Taoist mountain, Yuhuang Mountain boasts not only beautiful natural landscapes but also a profound Taoist cultural heritage. The Yuhuang Pavilion complex, built against the mountainside, is magnificent and perfectly integrated with the surrounding natural scenery. Every lunar January 9th, the birthday of the Jade Emperor, a grand temple fair is held, attracting a large number of tourists and believers. Additionally, the scenic area preserves several cliff inscriptions and Taoist relics, documenting the historical changes of Yuhuang Mountain.

Yuhuang Mountain is not only a Taoist holy land but also an ideal destination for leisure and vacation. The scenic area provides comprehensive tourist facilities, including hiking trails, viewing platforms, and leisure squares, offering visitors a full range of touring experiences. Standing on the Sunrise Viewing Platform, you can overlook the panoramic view of Tonghua City and feel the vastness of “seeing all mountains from afar”.
